Hi, I'm Elaine - a qualified counsellor based in Witham Essex.
Before becoming a counsellor, I was always drawn to work that centres around people — their stories, their struggles, their resilience. And what has felt most meaningful to me has never simply been offering solutions, but building connection. Taking the time to truly see someone. To understand who they are beneath coping strategies, expectations or roles. To sit alongside them as they navigate change, uncertainty, loss or growth.
In a world that can feel fast, pressured and disconnected, I believe there's something quietly powerful about slowing down and offering steady, compassionate attention. To be present with someone in their difficulty. To accept them without needing them to be different.
I have seen how, within a safe and trusting relationship, understanding can deepen and healing can unfold.
My decision to become a counsellor was also shaped by my own experience of being a client. I came to understand from the inside how transformative it can be to have space to speak freely, to be listened to without judgement, and to begin making sense of yourself with the support of another. Experiencing that kind of attuned presence reinforced my belief in the power of connection within therapy.
As an integrative counsellor, I draw on a range of approaches so that our work together can be shaped around you as an individual. There's no one-size-fits-all model, because each person brings a unique story, and I aim to create a collaborative space where we can explore that story with care, honesty and respect.
If you're considering counselling, you are welcome to get in touch. Whether you arrive with something clearly defined or simply a sense that something doesn’t feel quite right, we can begin there — at your pace

I offer sessions from a private therapy room in my garden in Witham, Essex.
This is within easy reach of Wickham Bishops, Maldon, Heybridge, Great Totham, Hatfield Peverel, Nounsley, Terling, Kelvedon, Rivenhall and the surrounding areas.
Online therapy sessions are also available via Zoom, providing an accessible and flexible option if travelling isn’t possible or doesn’t feel right for you
I currently work with adult individuals (18+). Sessions last 50 minutes, usually take place weekly, and cost £50 per session.
I offer an initial free 15–20 minute telephone call, which gives us the opportunity to talk about what you’re hoping to bring to therapy and for you to ask any questions you may have.
There is no obligation to continue — it’s simply a chance to see whether working together feels right for you.
If you decide you would like to go ahead, you are welcome to book a session and we can begin exploring what has brought you to counselling at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
I offer both short-term and longer-term therapy, depending on what feels right for you. If you would like to book a block of sessions in advance, I offer a 10% discount when booking six sessions together.
I also have a limited number of concessionary spaces for those on a low income — please contact me if you’d like to discuss this further.
If you’re unsure whether counselling is right for you, you’re very welcome to arrange an initial call and take it from there.

Feel free to contact me if you have any questions about how therapy works, or to arrange an initial assessment appointment. This enables us to discuss the reasons you are thinking of coming to therapy, whether it could be helpful for you and whether I am the right therapist to help.
You can also call me on 07749023002 if you would prefer to leave a message or speak to me first. I am happy to discuss any queries or questions you may have prior to arranging an initial appointment.
